Wonderful State Park maintained very well. The showers and Facilities were top notch. They also had ice. Ranger programs were very interesting as well as the trail system. The park is situated on one of the island Mountain areas that dot the desert floor. The extra elevation makes it cooler and more prone to breezes.. sometimes 10 to 20 degrees colder than Fort Davis. There is a little Mexican restaurant in the town the only one I saw and it is excellent Tex Mex ..local musicians sometimes play there on Friday and Saturday. Make sure and check out Balmorhea State Park not very far away which has a fantastic man made natural bottom swimming pool that has fish in it and is cold as heck.. a natural fed spring pumps over a million gallons of water a day through this wonderful swimming pool..then there is McDonald Observatory with fantastic world class telescopes and amazing programs.Make reservation online for this popular place..Davis Mountains State Park has it all..plan to stay at least 3 to 5 days and make reservations in advance for this often full Park..
